This year the tour is sponsored by proudly South African brand Robertson’s Spices, and promises to be as immersive an experience as in previous years, as the team uncover hidden gems and favourite spots around the country.
Spending two days in each of the country’s nine provinces, the team will broadcast live while participating in various activities and being fully absorbed in different cultural experiences, while the digital team capture and share content across all the station’s social media platforms.
Listeners will be able to engage with the 5Drive team (Monday – Friday, 15:00 – 18:00) and are encouraged to share the best of their respective provinces.
The tour will begin in the Northern Cape with a visit to Augrabies Falls, before heading towards the North West Province, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu Natal, Free State and winding down in the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape by the end of the month. Some highlights along the way include a visit to The Kruger National Park, Franschoek and the Vredefort Dome, while sampling South African cuisine including KZN’s famous bunny chows, a traditional potjiekos in the Northern Cape, umngqusho in the Eastern Cape and bobotie in Cape Town.
Some activities audiences can look forward to is the team turtle tracking in Sodwana, a night game drive and guided treetop walks in Mapungubwe.
The team will continue to observe COVID-19 protocols along the way, ensuring they keep their masks on, sanitise and social distance as far as possible. With local travel allowed under lockdown level 2, South Africans are encouraged to support local travel industries, but continue to do so safely.
