Gold Reef City has launched its Love Lock Wall, perfectly timed to coincide with the month of love. Now starry-eyed couples can symbolically show their commitment to each other by attaching a padlock to the wall and throwing away the
The Love Lock Wall is reminiscent of various love lock locations in Paris, the undisputed city of love, where padlocks famously adorn the Pont des Artes and Pont de l’Archevêchés, amongst others.
Marketing Manager of Gold Reef City, Feron Somiah, says Gold Reef City offers couples a host of ways to celebrate their love this February. “In addition to the Love Lock Wall, we have several promotions and activities lined up for this Valentines Weekend (15 and 16 February) such as a Kissing Booth and the chance to win a two-night stay at the Gold Reef City Hotel.”
Loving couples can also get married or renew their vows at the Gold Reef City Chapel, a gorgeous Victorian-style sanctuary dating back to 1879. It was originally built on the Langlaagte farm to serve the miners during the gold rush, but was dismantled and reassembled at Gold Reef City, along with its original stained-glass windows, beams, pews, altar and organ.
Gold Reef City invites couples to show up and seal their love at the Love Lock Wall this month. “Anyone can seal their love at the wall. All it costs is the entrance fee to the Gold Reef City Theme Park. Couples can purchase them for R60 at the venue,” concludes Somiah.
