NBA AFRICA HOSTS UNFORGETTABLE SECOND ANNUAL WATCH PARTIES

The Boston Celtics triumphed over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the 2023-24 NBA Finals, securing the team’s record-breaking 18th championship title. The Celtics’ 108 – 88 victory solidified their historic legacy by securing more titles than any  other NBA team.

On Friday, 14 June 2024, NBA Africa hosted four public Finals Watch Parties for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The Boston Celtics versus the Dallas Mavericks showdown was held in Johannesburg and Durban, South Africa; Nairobi, Kenya; and Lagos, Nigeria. These events drew basketball enthusiasts eager to celebrate basketball and the culture that lives beyond it.

Fans arrived in their finest basketball attire, creating a stylish, energised atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed engaging activations, pulsating beats from talented DJs, and opportunities to connect with fellow basketball enthusiasts and the NBA brand.

In addition to the thrilling game broadcast, which showed the Mavericks dominate with a commanding 122-84 victory over the Celtics,  fans indulged in a selection of food and drinks from diverse food trucks, making for an all-around festive experience. 

As basketball’s popularity surges in Africa, fans have eagerly demonstrated their passion for the sport. Tickets for Watch Parties were sold out within days, transforming these events into unmissable experiences.

These watch parties not only celebrated the excitement of the NBA Finals but also created a sense of community and shared passion for the game.
