CELEBRATING THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF MUSIC BRIDGES

Bridges for Music and ULTRA South Africa are preparing for an unforgettable evening at the LOOKOUT, one of Cape Town’s iconic venues on Thursday 29 February 2024.

Hosted by Maps Maponyane, this year promises captivating performances engaging conversations, and inspiring testimonials. The night will be dedicated to creating long-lasting meaningful relationships that collectively transform and upskill music development in underserved communities.  

The annual Bridges for Music Fundraising Gala Dinner in partnership with ULTRA South Africa continues to push the boundaries in music upliftment. This event has raised funds over the past nine years to provide free skill development to over 200 students per year at the Bridges Academy in Langa, probably the most pioneering creative education school on the continent. 

In 2023 the prestigious event and fund-raising campaign raised an impressive R1.2 million.

Founder and CEO of Bridges for Music Valentino Barriosseta said ‘”This event represents the ultimate culture of dance music, collaboration, and communion through music. For 9 years now, Ultra has provided a platform for the music industry to come together, not only to party but also to raise funds to develop grassroots talent and build bridges into the creative economy. ¨

The Bridges Academy is a pioneering institution that provides music education and mentorship to disadvantaged communities by offering comprehensive training programs, access to resources, and opportunities for collaboration, the academy aims to uplift and empower aspiring musicians, producers, and DJs, enabling them to reach their full potential. Through events like the Bridges for Music gala dinner and auctions, the organization continues to raise funds to expand its programs and provide even greater support to underserved communities. The generous contributions from attendees at the gala demonstrate a shared belief in the power of music to create positive change and transform lives.

Since 2013, Bridges for Music has been empowering young under-served talent whilst making it their mission to connect local and international music industries. This special night brings together music industry friends and social impact advocates. Past guests include Siya Kolisi, Skrillex, Msaki, Maps Maponyane, Dash Berlin, DJ Snake, Zolani Mahola, Ready D, Alice Phoebe Lou, Dubfire, Nic Fanciulli, DJ Fresh, Themba, Shimza and many more! On the night expect to see surprise performances by some of the best in the industry, and attendance by the “who’s who” in the music industry, including the ULTRA Worldwide performing artists, alongside a very special performance by Msaki and many more.

The Gala Dinner and Auction is a chance to showcase and celebrate Bridges for Music’s ongoing work, as well as to raise funds for the most deserving young creatives in South Africa. ULTRA South Africa is once again proud to partner with Bridges for Music for this event.
