World Gin Day is celebrated internationally on the second Saturday of June, which falls on the 11th this year. But for a gin that was first established in 1769 and considered by many to be the original, one day of celebration is surely not enough.
Gordon’s Gin has been the standard by which all other gins are measured for over 250 years. To give such a legendary drink the respect it deserves, they’re making all of June ‘World Gordon’s Month’. Gordon’s is celebrating the month with a giveaway that will appeal to cocktail fans, gin aficionados and sociable hosts – but it will require a little fun interaction on social media to play.
Gordon’s has been the first name in gin for bartenders and gin lovers alike. Now, during World Gordon’s Month, the brand is inviting South Africans to change their names to ‘Gordon’ too.
That may sound like a radical request, but the brand is putting up a prize that makes it all worthwhile.
South Africans needn’t worry, there’s nothing permanent or official about the name change – all entrants need to do is change their social media profile name or handle to include ‘Gordon’ then reply/comment on the post with #WorldGordonsMonth and they could WIN a SMEG bar fridge stocked with a year’s supply of Gordon’s Gin! Our young country is used to name changes by now so it should be a breeze.
Gordon’s is the perfect drink to host with, and World Gordon’s Month is the perfect time for South Africans to get together to enjoy the original gin with their friends. No doubt the country will be seeing a few extra ‘Gordons’ toasting Gordon’s Gin this year.
The World Gordon’s Day promotion run for the month of June and a winner will be selected at the end of the month. Ts&Cs apply
Consumers are encouraged to enter the competition and join the conversation on the Gordon’s Gin Facebook page on Instagram, and on Twitter.
