With the festive season slowly approaching, and many wanting to find alternative safe social gatherings, event specialists NM Studios earlier this year created and launched a musical series of intimate musical experiences, ‘An Afternoon/Evening with….’ showcasing various South African artists. This weekend sees the second series featuring talented pianist Keenan John Meyer.
The upcoming musical moment with the South African pianist Keenan John Meyer who is a representation of creative brilliance, heightens NM Studios’ objective for the musical series.
The objective to create creative diverse experience where artists can transform the space into moments. In his training as a classical pianist and music composer, Keenan released greatness with his debut album The Alchemy of Living in June this year.
The album was composed with the intention to pay homage to Africa’s heritage and his own personal musical icons, whom he has constantly drawn inspiration from. The project continues to take many on a diverse musical and spiritual journey.
Having launched in June this year, NM Studios plans on creating a safe harbour for connections, conversations, and soulful musical experiences continuing into the year 2022.
The musical series kicked off with a collaborative residency program with the South African jazz artist Mandisi Dyantyis.
The essence of the collaboration was to advocate for inclusive projects amongst esteemed creatives. The collaboration between Mandisi and the Joburg-based band uMbaqanga waBlues culminated an intimate showcase experience.
The week-long stay birthed exclusive pieces all inspired by the work the South African visual artist, Nelson Makamo.
The aim of NM Studios’ musical series is to represent and be advocates for creative freedom and brilliance. Therefore, they plan to continue into the year 2022 with many more brilliant artists such as Mpho Sebina.
‘We are optimistic that Keenan’s musical experience – as well as many other great musicians we wish to invite within our space – will elaborate further on this solace in the art of music,’ added NM Studio frontman Theresho Selesho.
