BLOK’S RECYCLED TOTE BAGS CRAFTED FROM ONCE VIBRANT BILLBOARD

Blok, the award-winning property developer, has transformed structure into a sustainable stylish statement with its latest project – by repurposing a billboard that was once the street-facing façade of ONE26ONM into steadfast-crafted one-of-a-kind recycled tote bags.

This creative collaboration celebrates local artistry and craftsmanship, bringing together acclaimed Cape Town artist Al Luke, who designed the billboard’s original artwork, and the talented manufacturing team at The ABC Collection, led by Andraé Bird.

From Billboard to Bag: Sustainability Meets Style

In line with Blok’s commitment to sustainability, the massive billboard – a temporary feature during ONE26ONM’s construction – has been reimagined into 120 limited-edition, bespoke, eco-friendly tote bags. Each bag is unique, made from different sections of the billboard, and designed to last, with a bold and distinctive appeal that reflects Al Luke’s signature creativity.

“This project is about more than just recycling,” said Troy Squires, Head of Marketing at Blok. “It’s about reimagining what’s possible, reducing waste, and celebrating the talent within our local communities. Changing the perception of what a residential developer can do outside of building homes, is close to my heart.”

The ABC Collection brought Blok’s vision to life with its meticulous craftsmanship, creating sturdy, sustainable accessories that honour Cape Town’s vibrant creative and manufacturing sectors. From design to assembly, the entire process was local, reflecting Blok’s pride in supporting homegrown talent and industries.
