LIVE MUSIC CREATES FESTIVE AMBIENCE ON THE SQUARE

by

And just like that, the festive season is around the corner. Christmas trees are being erected, gift shopping has started and shopping destinations have been adorned with festive lights. Now, visitors to Nelson Mandela Square can enjoy the festive cheer with live music from Saturday 26 November, between shopping, dining or simply while visiting this popular destination.

Featuring the likes of Majozi, Garth Taylor, Boki Ntsimi & Nathi Shongwe, Rocketeers and others, live performances will entertain passers-by, and those dining at one of Nelson Mandela Square’s many sumptuous restaurants. Performances will take place on Saturdays from 6 to 8pm and on Sundays from 2 – 4pm.

Special performances are scheduled with Majozi for Friday 16 December from 7 – 8 pm, Garth Taylor  on Friday 23 December from 7 – 8pm, with Rocketeers lined up for a show on Saturday 24 December, from 6 – 8 pm for those looking to enjoy an upbeat Christmas Eve.

Additionally, the recent art exhibition on Nelson Mandela Square by internationally-acclaimed local sculptor Anton Smit, in collaboration with the Artyli Gallery, has been extended till 31 December. Titled Colossal, Smit’s collection of mesmerising pieces transformed the Square into an open-air gallery with over twenty sculptures, spaciously positioned to be explored and enjoyed. Smit’s captivating pieces are being rearranged for visitors to enjoy this collection with new perspectives over the festive season.

“We are excited to be hosting such talented local artists leading up to the festive season and that the Colossal exhibition is being extended” says Preston Gaddy, General Manager of Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square. “We are passionate about supporting local artists. Live music and art are the perfect accompaniment to shopping or dining, or while simply enjoying the festive ambience of the Square” he added.
