HmC is proud to announce the return of Johannesburg’s premier design event, the HmC Fair, from 28 to 30 October, at The Piazza in the upscale Melrose Arch environment, Melrose, Johannesburg.

The eagerly-awaited return of this festival of beautiful design, fashion and food comes as things slowly return to a post-Covid normality. Fair owner and curator Lesley Hudson welcomes shoppers, collectors and revellers to the event. With a new venue, a fresh look and a host of new exhibitors, the Fair once again takes its rightful place as a key happening on Johannesburg’s design calendar.

The HmC Fair has become an important showcase for established and emerging talent in the design, fashion and culinary industries in South Africa. As with previous Fairs, the 2022 occasion aims to extend its influence into the rest of Africa as a wonderful shopping opportunity for visitors from all over the continent. 

With so much about the HmC Fair that is new, return visitors will be pleased to know that there is still plenty of the trademark ‘deliciousness’ for which Lesley is renowned. Lesley says, “Staging the HmC Fair this year is definitely about making a statement for continuity and longevity. This is the festival brand that provides people with the ultimate delicious experience, and the opportunity to buy the kinds of high-quality brands that they’re so used to. This sort of continuity is so important in a post-Covid context because we’re all seeking a degree of stability. A lot has changed since we were last able to host the Fair, so it feels right to be having it this year.” 

Many of the previous exhibitors are back with new, exciting product lines and experiences for visitors. The Fair also boasts a number of fresh exhibitors, creative entrepreneurs of the sort that only Africa can produce. Lesley is enthusiastic about these additions: “Our new exhibitors are very exciting: they have emerged through the hardships of Covid and lockdowns, have taken the time to research, introspect and come up with creative things. And yet, the same rigorous HmC standards of selection have obviously been applied. This means we’ve touched, felt, smelled, tasted, hugged, kissed and interacted with every product that will be on show.”
