Unathi Nkayi is to put the outdoor gym at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden through its paces, and the gym can’t wait!
The former Idols judge, body-positivity icon, fitness advocate and fearless champion of strong women everywhere will get to grips with the gym equipment at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden on the morning of Saturday 27 August.
Set in the beauty of a national botanical garden, the gym equipment offers outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers a literally lovely way of getting out there and active. Unathi is coming to the garden, and to its outdoor gym, to celebrate Women’s Month and to remind people everywhere that all women are entitled to claim and celebrate their strength, power and beauty.
“Be who you are. Embrace yourself and celebrate that which makes you unique and beautiful. It’s the best gift you can give yourself. And it’s the very best example you can set for others,” she says.
“I can’t wait to try out the gym at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden for myself. I have heard so much of this gym set in the heart of a beautiful, indigenous garden. What better way to stretch your body and fill your soul with joy?”
Xolelwa Mokoena, curator at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, is thrilled that Unathi has chosen to celebrate Women’s Month by giving the garden’s outdoor gym a go.
“People love the gym,” she says. “It’s one of our most popular features. No wonder because it’s a fun alternative for visitors who want to get out in the fresh air. I am certain Unathi is going to love the gym, the garden, the birds and the beautiful spring weather we are enjoying in Johannesburg at the moment.
“Of course, people are welcome to join us as we welcome Unathi to our garden, and our outdoor gym. This is a celebration of the power and strength and beauty of women. It’s a truly unique event and Unathi is sure to bring her irresistible flavour and energy to it.”
Unathi will take to the outdoor gym equipment at 9am on Saturday 27 August. Tickets for the event are available at https://www.webtickets.co.za/v2/Event.aspx?itemid=1517593863. Garden gates open for ticket holders at 6am and for persons without tickets at 8am. The Walter Sisulu National Botanic Garden is a cash-free environment. Tickets at the gate may be purchased by card only.
