MTV Base highly anticipated Hottest MCs list was released in a 2-part special that aired on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on the 3rd and 4th December.
The special was the subject of much debate on the Twitter streets with many fans sharing their thoughts on how they felt about this year’s list. Blxckie emerged victorious and was crowned South Africa’s Hottest MC for 2021.
MTV Base Hottest MCs 2021 was hosted by MTV Base Culture Squad member Tshego Koke who was joined by a panel of South African hip-hop authorities.
The panel included the likes of DJ Zan D, Shala The Unicorn, Kai, Buhle, Siya, and French Fry who heavily debated the criteria which is judged according to Bars and Lyrics, Impact, Sales and Intangibles (X-Factor). Although divided on certain MCs, the panel was finally able to reach a consensus on who should be crowned the Hottest MC for 2021
The Twitter streets were abuzz following the special as #basehottestmcs topped the South African’s Trends list. Fans and followers got into heated debates of their own divided on who should be crowned as SA’s Hottest MCs.
