Special Olympics South Africa will be closing off winter with South African celebrities plunging into freezing water (packed with tons of ice) in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities. This will be the second annual Polar Plunge in South Africa for the organization.
The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraiser presented by Special Olympics programs and originated in United States. This event offers a fun and unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support Special Olympics athletes by raising money to jump into frigid ice waters. Last year Special Olympics South Africa raised R40 000 with hopes of tripling it this year.
