Bonang Matheba puts her best foot forward as Ipanema’s new ambassador
Last week saw the announcement of South Africa’s sweetheart Bonang Matheba as she takes over from Gisele Bündchen as Ipanema’s Africa ambassador
Ipanema, creator of the world’s hottest summer footwear, has announced that South Africa’s favourite sweetheart, Bonang Matheba, will be its new continental brand ambassador across Africa, bringing her elegant touch and love for fashion to the soulful, summery brand.
Named after the iconic Ipanema beach in Brazil, the brand’s fashionable yet relaxed feel has long been associated with Brazilian-born beauty and famous model, Gisele Bündchen. Ipanema’s decision to bring Queen B on-board as the quintessential African ‘Ipanema Girl’ is a bold move for the brand, reflecting a shift towards a more afro-centric focus.
