MTV BASE & KLIPDRIFT GOLDEN BEATS FINAL SHOW STOPS IN DURBAN STAR-STUDDED LINE-UP INCLUDES DJ TIRA, BIG NUZ, CASSPER NYOVEST, KWESTA, BUCIE, MAJOR LEAGUE & DJ VUMAR
MTV Base (DStv channel 322) and Klipdrift are beating the winter blues with an end-of-season showstopper in Umlazi, KwaZulu Natal, featuring DJ Tira, Big Nuz, Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Bucie, Major League and DJ Vumar. Featuring the hottest local hip hop, house and R&B artists, this final edition of this season’s MTV Base & Klipdrift Golden Beats Party Tour will take place at Nuz Vegas Lounge, Umlazi, on 15 June.
Leading the pack will be Makoya Bearingz, aka DJ Tira, known for his House music tunes and infectious dance moves. Tira has produced and performed music with Big Nuz, DJ Sox (as half of Durban’s Finest), while his solo material includes well-loved hits such as “James”, “Summertime”, “Alikho Igama” featuring Sifiso Ncwane and “Won’t Let You Go”.
It’s going to be a legit homecoming for Big Nuz, as the multi-award winning duo from Umlazi heat up a cold winter night with MTV Base and Klipdrift. Known for their catchy tunes such as “Sting Ray”, Hawaii “Umlilo”, “Newlands West” and “Osisi Bendawo”, this dynamic pair never disappoint with their performances. Nominated for Group Of The Year and Best Kwaito Album at the 22nd Annual South African Music Awards (SAMA), this group is no stranger to winning crowds and taking hearts with them.
Recently nominated at the 2016 BET Awards in the Best International Act: Africa, this MTV Base number one hottest MC and ‘Fill up the Dome” star, Cassper Nyovest is sure to fill up Nuz Vegas lounge, thrilling the crowds with his signature rap and dance moves. Nyovests’ meteoric career has been boosted by collaborations with the likes of Kwesta, DJ Drama, The Game, JR, Riky Rick and Anatii and US rap queen, Nicki Minaj chose him to open for her on the South African leg of her global “Pinkprint” tour.
The biggest song at the moment belongs to husky voiced rapper and producer Kwesta, whose peerlessly flawless track “Ngud” is on high rotation on every TV and radio station. No stranger to hard work, Kwesta is currently reaping the rewards of his dedication and passion thanks to his latest work of art “Dakar II” features another big hit “Nomayini.”
The undisputed “Princess of House”, Bucie is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. With hits such as “Easy To Love”, “Get Over It” and Ndicel’ Indoda” to her name, this girl from Kimberly has worked with some of the nation’s biggest DJs, including BET Awards 2016 nominee Black Coffee, Heavy K, Louie Vega and most recently Black Motion.
Twins Banele and Bandile Mbere form the popular household outfit, Major League. They are also nominated at the 22nd annual South African Music Awards for Best Collaboration for their festive hit Slyza Tsotsi featuring OkMalumKoolKat, Riky Rick and Cassper Nyovest. Some of their hit songs include Zulu Girls and The Bizness, a perfect blend of their Kwaito and hip hop influences.
Durban DJ Vumar will be shaking things up a little on 15 June, giving fans a taste of the energetic and memorable mixes they know so well from his shows on Gagasi FM and Vibe FM. Among his most recent projects on display will be the song “Pressure” – a collaboration with musician Demor Skhosana.
Over the last 3 years, Klipdrift and MTV Base party tours have become a regular fixture on the urban music scene, touring hotspots in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, East London, Soweto and Durban.
