BELGIUM: Brussels Zaventem airport blasts.
Two explosions have struck the departures area of Zaventem airport in Brussels (Belgium).
The Belgian government has confirmed there are casualties but has given no numbers yet. The cause of the explosions is unknown. The airport is being evacuated and has been closed to flights.
We anticipate that the Belgium Government will tighten their security controls throughout the country and that this might impact on the time it takes travellers to enter or exit any Belgium border posts.
All passengers who are travelling via Belgium over the next few days are urged to make immediate arrangements on all current and pending itineraries and to allow for additional travel time that might be required as a result of all the added security measures. We also urge all Wings travellers to avoid crowded public areas and to remain vigilant at all times.
Wings’ travel consultants are ready to offer any support that our customers may require. They are already in the process of making contact with all travellers that are possibly impacted by these events.
Wings will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and will provide further updates should it become necessary.
