Artists such as The Soil, Pu2ma and Isabel Novella have made sure that the flag still flies high, representing South Africa and the music industry internationally.
The Soil started in March 2013 when they performed in New York at the historical Apollo theatre in Harlem, New York at the Africa Now festival.
This week they have headed to Edinburgh, UK to perform for 26 days, every night from 1st August till 26 August 2013. The Soil will be joining other well known South African acts who have been chosen from different art forms to take stage at the Edinburgh Festival and represent South African art in this international festival. Following to her stable, Isabel Novella who launched her debut album in South Africa at Bassline, Johannesburg on June 2013 has headed to Europe to promote her new album in Portugal. She is set to perform in Holland and Portugal in July 2013 and appear in TV programs such as RDP Africa which will be celebrating the International Radio day on 1st August. Pu2ma has been in the music industry for a while and has also made her mark performing internationally as a backing singer and now claiming her space internationally as an artist in her own right. After a long career here in South Africa, Pu2ma was one of the local artists billed at this year’s Cape Town International Jazz Festival which is ranked No.4 in the world, outshining events such as Switzerland’s Montreaux Festival and the
North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland. on the 5th April 2013, Pu2ma shared the stage with Jun-Luc Ponty, Kirk Whalum, Gill Scott, Brand New Heavies, and many others. Recently, Pu2ma has been picked again by Hugh Masekela to perform at the Tribute to Mirriam Makeba at the Festival Martigues, in France. The concert namely called HUGH MASEKELAS CELEBRATE MAMA AFRICA will have special guests: PU2MA, THANDISWA MAZWAI AND THE MAHOTELA QUEENS.
