Seasoned television and radio presenter Karabo Ntshweng joins 5FM as the stations’ newest recruit.
Taking on the reins of Early Mornings from Vic Naidoo, who left the station last month, Karabo is on air Monday – Friday 04:00 – 06:00 starting from Monday, 8 June.
Karabo has a career spanning 17 years within the entertainment industry, starting out at SABC1’s YO-TV. She studied drama at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg and has a Psychology degree from Wits University where she honed her radio skills at Voice of Wits (VOW FM). Her charismatic personality landed her a spot on a regional radio station. When she’s not curled up in a book or binge-watching series, you’ll find her at the theatre on a Sunday afternoon, or dancing up a storm at the hottest party.
“5FM has always kept their finger on the pulse of all things regarding South African youth and I can’t think of a better fit at this stage of my career. I’m super ecstatic to be joining their current line-up of talented presenters and looking forward to bringing some positive energy, fantastic tunes, and content that will give my fellow early birds the perfect kick to start their day!”
Another minor on-air change sees Zanele Potelwa(The Roger Goode Show) replace Vic on his Sunday show The Takeover (Sundays, 10:00 – 14:00).
5FM Programme Manager Siya Fikelepi says he is excited to welcome Karabo to the fold as another dynamic broadcaster providing quality and engaging content for the stations’ audiences.
“Both Karabo and Zanele have an incredible work ethic and two personable individuals who have plenty to offer the station and their listeners alike. Our line-up refresh speaks to the evolving direction of the station,” he adds.
